IMISCOE was established as an EU-funded Network of Excellence in 2004 and was extended from 2010 onwards as an independent network funded primarily by member contributions. Migration IMISCOE changed from a focus on policy towards a focus on membership. The focus has shifted more to the interests of research institutes. Secondly, there has been a diversification trend.
